News We Follow: Surgeons help create new process for disinfecting and reusing N95 masks
The St. Louis healthcare system has come up with a process for sanitizing N95 respirator masks, as well as returning them to their original users once they’ve been sanitized. The system has been working well and is helping hospitals deal with the current shortage of respirator masks.
“Dr. Eckhouse said other hospitals facing mask shortages can reproduce the disinfection program if they bring together experts in environmental health and safety, medicine, and facility management.”
