ESG and Severe Weather
At ESG, our passion for environmental science and building resilience stems from the lifelong dedication of our owner, Dan Whittaker. For over 17 years, Dan has pursued his passion for severe weather, documenting and researching its impact on communities and the built environment. From photographing the powerful forces of Hurricane Helene to analyzing the destruction of the super tornado outbreak of 2011, Dan has been at the forefront of understanding how severe weather shapes our world.
Dan’s work goes beyond observation. His involvement in scientific research projects has provided critical insights into the effects of severe weather on building integrity and design. By studying events like Hurricane Matthew and other natural disasters, Dan has developed a deep understanding of how environmental factors challenge the resilience of structures, guiding ESG's efforts to provide proactive and informed solutions to building safety.
ESG’s mission is rooted in Dan’s commitment to science and the environment. Our team works closely with businesses and organizations to assess and mitigate environmental risks, especially in the wake of severe weather events. Whether consulting on damaged buildings or implementing preventative measures, ESG combines scientific expertise with a passion for environmental stewardship to create sustainable, safe, and resilient spaces.
Dan’s unique background in severe weather documentation and research shapes ESG’s approach to environmental testing and consultation. His drive to understand and protect communities from nature’s most extreme events informs everything we do, from air quality testing to moisture assessments. At ESG, we believe that advancing environmental science and prioritizing sustainable practices are not just professional goals—they’re our responsibility to the future.
