Visual walkthrough
We evaluate the accessible areas of the property, inside and out, for signs of water intrusion, ventilation issues, poor air circulation, building material concerns, and occupant lifestyle factors that may impact health. Crawlspaces and attics may be a separate scope.
Accessible AreasMoisture & humidity mapping
Using thermal cameras and moisture meters, we screen accessible surfaces for elevated moisture and for conditions that may support microbial growth or point to ventilation problems.
Infrared ImagingAir quality screening
Screening may include key indicators such as CO₂, relative humidity, particulate matter (PM2.5 & PM10), volatile organic compounds, and airborne dust levels, documented in representative areas of the home.
Field ScreeningMulti-area comparison
We take environmental readings in several areas of the home to compare zones and help highlight areas of concern, not just the single room you're worried about.
Zone AnalysisTargeted mold & allergen sampling
If visible signs or environmental indicators suggest mold or allergen concerns, we can collect surface or air samples for accredited laboratory analysis. Laboratory sampling may be a separate scope.
If NeededOccupant risk review
We take time to understand how the space is used, who lives there, and whether certain occupants (children, elderly, immunocompromised) may be more sensitive to environmental conditions. ESG evaluates environmental conditions; we do not diagnose medical conditions.

Common questions about healthy home assessments
How is a Healthy Home Assessment different from mold testing?
Mold testing focuses on one issue: whether mold is present and what species it is. A Healthy Home Assessment is broader. We evaluate the accessible areas of your indoor environment including air quality, moisture levels, ventilation, VOCs, particulate matter, and occupant risk factors. Mold sampling may be part of the assessment if indicators suggest it, giving you a wider view of your home's environmental health.
How long does a Healthy Home Assessment take?
Most assessments take between 2 and 4 hours depending on the size of the home and the scope of concerns. Larger homes or properties with significant water damage history may require more time. We never rush. The goal is to thoroughly evaluate the accessible areas that could be contributing to indoor environmental problems.
What kind of equipment do you use?
We use professional-grade instruments including thermal imaging cameras, calibrated moisture meters, real-time air quality monitors for CO₂, particulate matter, VOCs, and humidity, as well as laboratory-grade air and surface sampling cassettes when mold or allergen testing is needed. All samples are sent to accredited third-party laboratories.
Do you provide remediation services?
No, and that's by design. ESG is an independent third-party testing and consulting company and does not perform remediation. This separation helps reduce financial conflicts between evaluation and corrective work. If remediation is needed, we'll guide you on what to look for in a qualified contractor.

ESG is based in Greensboro, NC and serves clients throughout North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee. We primarily serve the Piedmont Triad including Winston-Salem, High Point, Burlington, and surrounding communities, but regularly travel for projects across all three states.
