Proactive, not reactive. Schools that enroll in the Indoor Air Wellness Program don't wait for a complaint to test. Quarterly documentation gives you answers before parents ask the questions.

Air quality concerns schools face every day

Whether you're responding to a complaint or building a proactive wellness program, ESG has the services and expertise to help schools demonstrate their commitment to occupant health.

Parent or teacher raised air quality concerns

Complaints about mold, musty odors, or unexplained symptoms in classrooms demand a credible, documented response. ESG gives you third-party data you can share, not just talking points.

New or renovated facility needs a baseline

New construction and major renovations introduce VOCs, dust, and moisture risks. A baseline IAQ assessment before occupancy documents the starting condition and confirms the space is ready for students and staff.

Building an ongoing wellness program

Forward-thinking school districts and universities are establishing proactive IAQ programs: quarterly checkpoints, documented results, and ESG Verified Building status communicated to the school community.

Why ESG

The documentation that answers parent questions before they're asked

When a parent emails the principal about air quality, the best response isn't "we've checked and everything is fine." The best response is a link to your most recent ESG quarterly report. Documentation speaks louder than assurances.

ESG's independence matters here too. We never perform remediation, so when we report that a classroom's air quality is within healthy parameters, there's no reason to doubt it. When we find something concerning, it's because it's there. Every report is peer-reviewed by two certified professionals.

From enrollment to ESG Verified status

Here's how a school or university transitions from reactive air quality response to a proactive, documented Indoor Air Wellness Program.

1

Baseline facility assessment

We conduct a comprehensive IAQ assessment of your facility, establishing documented starting conditions for all occupied spaces before the program begins.

2

Quarterly checkpoint schedule set

We build a checkpoint calendar around the school year (fall startup, mid-year, and spring) so testing is planned, not reactive, and doesn't disrupt operations.

3

ESG Verified Building status earned

Facilities that meet air quality standards through the program earn ESG Verified Building status, a designation that demonstrates your commitment to occupant health.

4

Occupant communication delivered

Each quarter, you receive a plain-language summary report designed to share with parents, teachers, and board members, turning IAQ data into community trust.

Wellness Program vs. complaint-driven testing

ESG Indoor Air Wellness Program

Quarterly testing creates a continuous record of air quality, so when a concern is raised, you already have the data to respond. Documentation builds community confidence year-round.

  • Quarterly documented assessments on file
  • Shareable occupant reports for parents & staff
  • ESG Verified Building status
  • Problems caught early, before complaints arise

Reactive testing only

Testing only when a complaint is filed means you're always responding, never leading. Each complaint starts from scratch: no baseline, no history, and the appearance of avoidance.

  • No documentation until something goes wrong
  • Reactive testing appears defensive to parents
  • No baseline to compare against
  • Problems may grow undetected between complaints

School & university FAQs

What does the Indoor Air Wellness Program include?

The program includes a baseline facility assessment, four quarterly IAQ checkpoints, lab-analyzed results from each checkpoint, ESG Verified Building certification for qualifying facilities, and plain-language occupant communication reports designed for sharing with parents and staff.

What is ESG Verified Building status?

ESG Verified Building is a designation awarded to educational facilities that meet indoor air quality standards through the Wellness Program. It demonstrates your facility's commitment to occupant health and gives you something tangible to communicate to the school community.

How do we communicate results to parents and staff?

Each quarterly checkpoint produces an occupant communication report: a plain-language summary of findings and status, written to be shared in a newsletter, parent portal, or board presentation. The report is yours to use and publish as you see fit.

Can ESG respond to an immediate complaint quickly?

Yes. If you have an active concern such as a parent complaint, visible mold, or a health incident, we can prioritize a rapid assessment outside the regular quarterly schedule. Enrollment in the Wellness Program also gives you priority scheduling for urgent situations.

Do you test individual classrooms or the whole building?

Scope is flexible. We can assess specific areas of concern, a single building, or an entire campus. The Wellness Program typically covers all regularly occupied spaces: classrooms, offices, gyms, cafeterias, and common areas.

Do you serve K-12 schools as well as universities?

Yes. ESG serves K-12 public and private schools, community colleges, and universities across NC, VA, and TN. The Wellness Program is designed to scale from a single school building to a multi-campus institution.
